Your Day-to-Day Impact
As a Lecturer in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, you’ll deliver outstanding teaching and learning across a range of qualifications, including apprenticeships, full-time Level 2 and 3 programmes, HNC/D, and T Levels.
You’ll teach and support learners on topics such as:
• Electrical and Electronic Principles
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Microcontrollers and Process Control
• Electronic Measurement and Testing
• Industrial Power Electronics and Storage
You’ll work collaboratively with curriculum teams to develop high-quality learning materials and assess learner progress with fairness, consistency, and rigour. Acting as a personal tutor, you’ll guide learners through their academic and personal development, setting individual targets and supporting them to succeed.
You will also play an active role in course development, departmental planning, and the continuous improvement of teaching standards — ensuring your subject area remains current, relevant, and inspiring.
Is This You?
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Level 5 subject-specialist qualification (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Relevant industry experience within electrical/electronic engineering
• Knowledge of PLCs, Microcontrollers, Electronic Testing, and Electrical Principles
• Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and IT (or equivalent College assessment)
• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or willingness to achieve)
Progression Expectations (if not yet fully qualified):
• Achieve Assessor Awards for relevant areas (e.g., NVQ courses, where required)
• Work toward a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent)
• Work toward Verifier Awards (where required)
Experienced and Qualified Candidates Will Also Have:
• A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification
• Two years’ teaching experience across different programmes and levels
• A Specialist Skills for Life Diploma (where required)
• Experience contributing to curriculum design and internal verification processes
• Achieve the College’s annual CPD target:
– 30 hours for full-time lecturers
– 6 hours for part-time lecturers
