We are looking for a motivated and learner-focused Employability & Skills Needs Trainer to join our team and play a crucial role in preparing learners for the world of work. In this position, you will:
- Deliver Employability & Local Skills Needs training across a range of programmes
- Plan and deliver engaging, activity-based lessons that stretch and challenge learners
- Set and monitor individual learner targets to ensure meaningful progression.
- Provide strong pathways into employment, with local skills needs outcomes prioritised.
- Assessing learner needs and creating tailored development plans
- Supporting learners to achieve outcomes such as employment, apprenticeships, qualifications, and other progression routes.
- Managing learner data, enrolment, and support needs efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver courses as nominated by the Manager and carry out all associated course administration, Complete learner registers accurately and on time
- Plan and deliver functional skills as an embedded part of the training programme.
- Assess clients’ needs and set robust plans and targets to meet their needs on an individual basis.
- Achieve outcomes for clients that provide a wide range of benefits including jobs, apprenticeships, qualifications and other progression routes.
- Prepare learners for their subsequent next steps in the world of work.
- Manage data for learners including initial assessment, enrolment, and daily registration and ensure all requests for ALS & support needs are processed efficiently.
- Manage individual client targets, always ensuring that clients are being stretched and challenged to ensure their onward progression.
- Deliver learning programmes flexibly across the Hertfordshire region
- Produce schemes of work and lesson plans and prepare teaching materials/resources for all teaching
- Mark and assess student work promptly, accurately and objectively
- Be responsible for learner progress, including setting and monitoring of learner targets
- Comply with quality standards including undertaking internal verification work.
- Prepare reports for external parties, for example, parents, employers, training agencies.
- Contribute to and attend meetings, events and working parties as requested.
- Ensure statistics for learner attendance and achievement are monitored and acted upon when necessary.
Is This You?
Qualification and Experience
- A minimum Level 3 subject specialist qualification
- GCSE grade 4-9 (C or above) in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or willingness to achieve)
- Effective communication skills and proficiency in relevant software
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload independently
- Experience working with learners from diverse backgrounds in a teaching or training environment
- Ability to work across 3 different Oaklands campuses and travel independently to respond to learner enrolments and our external partners request for qualification delivery.
- Qualifications in the Government Skills needs subjects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of ESOL qualifications is an advantage.
- Assessor and IQA qualifications are an advantage.
