Oaklands College is looking for a passionate Apprenticeship Trainer & Skills Coach (Carpentry) to guide apprentices through their learning journey — from their very first tool in hand to achieving their full qualification.

As a Trainer & Skills Coach, you’ll be at the heart of this mission — bringing your expertise to life in workshops, classrooms, and on-site visits, while working hand-in-hand with employers to support every apprentice’s progress.
What You’ll Be Doing
Training & Coaching
Deliver high-quality carpentry training across classroom, workplace, and online settings
Inspire apprentices through practical, engaging workshops
Tailor learning to suit each apprentice’s starting point and aspirations
Assessment & Feedback
Provide constructive feedback to keep apprentices on track
Prepare learners for End Point Assessments with confidence
Maintain accurate records in line with apprenticeship standards
Employer Engagement
Work closely with employers to create supportive workplace learning environments
Provide regular progress updates to employers and apprentices
Learner Support
Offer academic and pastoral support to overcome barriers to success
Help apprentices shape their careers with clear guidance and advice
Quality & Professionalism
Champion high standards, ensuring training meets Ofsted and funding requirements
Keep your own skills sharp through CPD and professional development
Is This You?
We’re looking for a dedicated and inspiring coach who’s as excited about developing people as they are about carpentry.
You’ll bring:
Proven experience in delivering training and coaching within apprenticeships or education
Relevant teaching and/or assessor qualifications (PTLLS, A1 Assessor Award, TAQA) — or willingness to achieve
Relevant IQA qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, frameworks, and End Point Assessment requirements
Experience working with employers to support workplace learning and development
Strong IT skills, including e-portfolio systems and Microsoft Office
A relevant vocational qualification in carpentry or significant industry experience
Personally, you are:
A great communicator and motivator
Organised, adaptable, and committed to maintaining high standards
Supportive and approachable, with a genuine passion for learner success
