Bank - Lecturer in Cookery (Adult Community Learning)
Deliver structured, themed cookery courses for adults, held once a week in the evenings over four weeks, where participants prepare and take home their dishes.
The Adult and Community Learning (ACL) Team at Oaklands College is looking for an experienced and qualified cookery tutor to deliver various cuisines. Offering new and innovative dishes as part of our full cost evening provision. If you have a specific cooking speciality and can offer a wide range of dishes and cuisines for all levels we would love to hear from you.
The courses will run in the evening covering a total of 4 weeks, 2 hours per week from 7pm to 9pm.
The successful person for this role will need to have experience of cookery and previous teaching experience. It would be desirable if candidates have a QTS. However we can offer you in depth coaching and the opportunity to achieve a recognised teaching qualification whilst employed.
Your Day to Day Impact
- Facilitate practical cookery sessions, ensuring students complete both a main dish and a side dish in each lesson.
- Communicate clearly a weekly list of required ingredients and equipment.
- Uphold Health and Safety standards, including food hygiene compliance and completion of relevant risk assessments.
- Design and deliver a structured cookery course, incorporating a detailed Scheme of Work and comprehensive Lesson Plans.
Is This You
- Demonstrable experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
- Prior experience in delivering teaching or training sessions, ideally within an educational or community learning setting.
- Possession of relevant culinary skills supported by appropriate cookery qualifications.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
