Curriculum Team Leader – Powering the Future of Electrical Skills
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for an Curriculum Team Leader in Electrical Installation Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across City & Guilds qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3.
In this position, you will inspire learners through engaging theory and practical sessions, preparing them for skilled employment, apprenticeships and further study. You will play a key role in developing learners’ professional behaviours and supporting apprentices to successfully complete their End-Point Assessments (including AM2/AM2S).
Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
Plan and deliver engaging theory and practical sessions across Levels 1–3.
Cover core topics including Health & Safety, electrical science, inspection & testing, installation practices, fault finding, and regulations.
Prepare learners for summative and synoptic assessments; set and mark formative assessments with timely feedback.
Use e-learning platforms (MS Teams, SharePoint, Smart Assessor/OneFile) to track progress and maintain engagement.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of SEND/EHCP learners and stretch higher-attaining students.
Maintain accurate records including registers, ILPs, progress reviews and intervention logs.
Quality, Compliance & Standards
Deliver in line with City & Guilds specifications and College policies.
Contribute to IQA processes and support external quality assurance visits.
Assist with curriculum planning, SAR/QIP and continuous improvement aligned to Ofsted standards.
Meet departmental KPIs including attendance, retention, achievement and learner destinations.
Workshop & Health & Safety
Maintain a safe, industry-standard workshop with risk assessments and inductions.
Ensure tools and equipment are serviceable and consumables managed effectively.
Embed Health & Safety and safe systems of work in all practical sessions.
Pastoral & Wider Responsibilities
Promote Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and sustainability.
Reinforce Maths & English in vocational contexts and support attendance to discrete sessions.
Provide tutorials, progress reviews and careers guidance.
Engage employers to plan workplace learning and support competency development.
Professionalism & Team Contribution
Participate in team meetings, CPD and curriculum development (including 18th/19th Edition updates).
Keep technical knowledge current with industry practice (e.g., BS 7671, EV charging, renewables).
Contribute to marketing, open events, taster days and employer engagement activities.
Is This You?
Qualified and experienced in electrical installation teaching and assessment.
Strong knowledge of City & Guilds frameworks and awarding body requirements.
Skilled in delivering both theory and practical sessions with high learner engagement.
Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting diverse learner needs.
Up-to-date technical knowledge of BS 7671 and emerging technologies.
Collaborative, professional and passionate about learner success.
Market supplement for this role is up to £5000 based on experience
