Technician in Plumbing and Electrical Installation
We are looking for a passionate and committed Technician to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering outstanding teaching and mentoring to our Electrical Installations students.
Ready to Help Power the Next Generation of Electricians?
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and proactive Technician in Electrical Installation to provide high-quality technical and practical support within our Electrical Installation department.
The Oaklands Education Group is a vibrant and diverse learning-centred community, providing transformational education for over 100 years. Oaklands is more than just a College and is well positioned to be internationally known, nationally recognised, regionally relevant, and locally significant.
As part of our continued growth and commitment to outstanding technical education, we are seeking a skilled and motivated professional to support both learners and teaching staff in a dynamic workshop environment. You will play a key role in ensuring students have access to safe, well-maintained facilities and resources that enable them to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed within the electrical industry.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
As a Technician in Electrical Installation, you will be responsible for maintaining a professional, safe, and effective workshop environment that supports high-quality teaching and learning.
A significant part of your role will involve preparing, setting up, and maintaining electrical installation bays, tools, equipment, and workshop resources required for practical sessions. You will carry out routine inspections, servicing, first-line maintenance, and fault diagnosis, ensuring all equipment remains safe, operational, and compliant with relevant legislation and regulations.
Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide practical support during lessons, demonstrating the safe use of equipment and supporting learners as they develop their technical skills and industry knowledge. Your guidance will help create a positive learning environment where students can build confidence and achieve their full potential.
You will ensure that workshop materials, consumables, and resources are effectively managed, maintaining stock levels and coordinating orders so that practical activities can be delivered without interruption.
Health and safety will be central to your role. You will conduct regular inspections, maintain accurate compliance records, support risk assessments, oversee safe working practices, and ensure adherence to relevant regulations including PUWER, COSHH, PAT testing requirements, and current electrical standards.
