Your Future Starts at Oaklands College
Are you ready to inspire the next generation of GCSE English learners?
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and dedicated GCSE English Lecturer to join our dynamic team and make a real impact on learners across our campuses.
About Us
Oaklands college is a vibrant, diverse, dynamic and learner‑centred community that has been providing transformational education for over 100 years. More than just a college, Oaklands is a place where ambition thrives. Oaklands is nationally recognised, regionally relevant, and locally significant.
The Role
We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated GCSE English Lecturer to teach across a diverse cohort of learners and play a pivotal role in supporting students alongside their main programme of study. You will help learners build confidence, strengthen their skills, and develop the motivation needed to succeed in English.
Teaching GCSE English in a Further Education (FE) college means delivering intensive, one year resit courses to young people who are aiming to achieve a grade 4 or above. Many students arrive with a history of low confidence or previous setbacks, so the role requires creativity, resilience, and a genuinely student-centred approach.
You will design engaging, exam focused lessons that bring English to life, using strategies such as positive reinforcement, real world application of skills, and supportive, targeted feedback. Your ability to re-engage learners, spark motivation, and help them see their potential will be key to their success.
In addition to teaching, you will contribute to a range of learner experiences including open events, commercial activities, and enrichment opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
You will be someone who brings energy, expertise, and a student‑centred approach to learning. The ideal candidate will have:
A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
Teaching experience and strong knowledge of AQA GCSE English
The ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds
A collaborative, flexible, and solution‑focused approach
Passion and drive to contribute to curriculum innovation
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Confident use of digital tools and learning technologies
Experience of working in a learning environment
Up‑to‑date industry or subject knowledge
