PPM & Compliance Assistant
Ensure the effective maintenance and ongoing development of campus amenity grounds, gardens, and woodlands.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a PPM & Compliance Assistant.
The PPM & Compliance Assistant will ensure the maintenance and development of amenity grounds, gardens and woodlands on Campus.
Your Day to Day Impact
Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping
Responsible for maintaining and enhancing college grounds and ongoing campus maintenance as directed by the Grounds and Estates Supervisor.
Undertake routine landscaping across grounds, gardens, and woodlands as per work schedules.
Ensure all external areas are free from weeds, rubbish, and leaves.
Assist in clearing ice and snow when necessary.
Carry out and assist with minor construction and landscaping work (e.g. fencing).
Undertake routine irrigation of grass and artificial surfaces.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of sports and amenity surfaces, including maintenance programmes, presentation standards, and line marking.
Maintenance, Repairs & Facilities Support
Assist with improvement works including painting and repairs within capability.
Drain and blockage clearance across colleges.
Report faults or damage in buildings, furniture, and equipment and support rectification.
Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with schedules.
Carry out flush testing and temperature monitoring.
Assist with all aspects of maintaining and developing college buildings and grounds.
Equipment, Tools & Resources
Ensure machinery/equipment is used safely, maintained per manufacturer instructions, kept clean, and stored in line with insurance requirements.
Complete and document operator maintenance and report defects for escalation.
Monitor and arrange replenishment of consumables and spare parts.
Support resource planning for delivery of work projects.
Facilities, Events & Porterage
Assist with setup of internal and external events.
Undertake porterage duties including room setup, moving furniture/equipment, and delivering parcels.
Undertake general housekeeping (waste collection, basic cleaning, furniture assembly).
Compliance, Health & Safety
Assist with risk assessments and ensure compliance (COSHH, ladders, asbestos, legionella, asset register).
Carry out manual handling tasks safely in line with training.
Manage weekly fire alarm testing and coordinate fire/emergency drills.
Complete and report compliance checks (e.g. emergency lighting, fire equipment).
Systems, Monitoring & Work Management
Use college asset and maintenance systems daily to monitor and manage tasks.
Respond to helpdesk requests in a proactive, professional, and safety-conscious manner.
Teamwork, Communication & General Duties
Build and maintain effective working relationships with managers, colleagues, and end users.
Contribute to project completion under the Facilities Manager.
Apply problem-solving skills to daily tasks.
Participate flexibly in college-wide activities (e.g. duty rotas, weekend work).
Maintain up-to-date training and personal development.
Is This You?
· General experience in aspects of general maintenance and compliance management.
· Detailed record keeping.
· Experience of working in a manual environment.
· Good standard of general education, including English and Maths.
· Experience of environmental/conservation schemes.
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
· Good communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work individually as well as part of a wider team.
· Ability to be involved in various general maintenance duties.
