Systems Integrator
Lead integration, automation and optimisation of college systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability. Deliver cloud-first approach to maximise platform value and data-driven decisions.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Systems Integrator to lead the integration, automation, and optimisation of college systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability across the IT estate.
The role will be responsible for developing a modern, cloud-first, approach to the integration of existing and future Information systems and processes to maximising the value of enterprise platforms and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Integration & Architecture
Design, implement, and maintain integrations between College systems (e.g. MIS, Finance, HR, LMS, Microsoft 365)
Develop and manage API-based integrations and middleware solutions
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data across systems
Maintain documentation of system architecture, integrations, and data flows
Automation & Process Improvement
Develop and maintain automation solutions using low-code platforms (e.g. Microsoft Power Platform)
Identify and eliminate manual processes across curriculum and business support functions
Work with departments to redesign processes for efficiency and scalability
Platform Optimisation
Configure and extend SaaS platforms in line with business requirements
Reduce reliance on bespoke development by maximising built-in platform functionality
Collaborate with system owners and vendors to implement improvements
Data Integration & Reporting
Enable integration of systems into reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI / data warehouse)
Support the delivery of accurate, timely, and accessible management information
Ensure data structures align with reporting and regulatory requirements
3rd Line Technical Support
Provide specialist 3rd line support for integration-related issues, including APIs, workflows, and data synchronisation
Troubleshoot complex system interactions and resolve failures in automation or data exchange
Work closely with IT Operations and Service Desk teams to support incident resolution
Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
Support digital and system implementation projects, ensuring integration considerations are embedded from the outset
Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Provide clear communication on progress, risks, and outcomes
Governance, Security & Compliance
Ensure integrations comply with data protection (e.g. UK GDPR) and security standards
Support secure design of data flows and system access
Contribute to IT governance, standards, and best practice development
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Keep up to date with emerging technologies, integration techniques, and sector best practice
Identify opportunities to improve digital capability and service delivery
Contribute to the College’s digital transformation strategy
You are required to have a key working relationship with the various teams such as;
IT Operations Team
MIS / Data Teams
Finance, HR, Curriculum and Business Support Departments
External system vendors and partners
Senior Leadership Team (for project and reporting alignment)
Person Specification:
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
A degree or equivalent in programming, Computer Science or a related field
Experience of integrating enterprise systems (APIs, data exchange, middleware)
Strong understanding of cloud-based platforms and SaaS environments
Experience with automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Power Platform or equivalent)
Experience supporting complex systems in a 3rd line or specialist capacity
Understanding of data structures, data quality, and reporting requirements
Desirable Criteria:
Experience within an FE / education environment
Knowledge of key College systems (MIS, Finance, LMS platforms)
Experience with Power BI or data warehouse environments
Exposure to integration platforms (e.g. Azure Integration Services)
Skills and Abilities:
