Part Time - Lecturer in Access (Pro rata salary)
Join Oaklands as a Part-time Lecturer delivering engaging Access to HE teaching—primarily to adult learners (19+), with some 16–18—supporting student success and progression.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Part time Lecturer in Access to Higher Education with Biology background to provide good quality of teaching to mainly 19+ age group of learners, you may also expect to teach 16 to 18 age group of students.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive lecturer in Biology- Access to Higher Education to join our team and play a crucial role in teaching & learning. In this position, you will plan, teach and assess the students work. You will also be responsible monitoring and tracking the performance of group of learners.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver courses as nominated by the Curriculum Team Manager and carry out all associated course administration.
Produce schemes of work and lesson plans in advance and prepare teaching materials/resources for all teaching.
Mark and assess student work promptly, accurately and objectively.
Act as a personal tutor and therefore be responsible for a group of learners, providing timely, transparent and fair tutorial and other support to them as appropriate.
Work on a one-to-one basis with students with additional needs where required.
Be responsible for learner progress, including setting and monitoring of learner targets.
Comply with quality standards and expectations including undertaking internal and external verification work.
Guide students toward extra support services in college.
Prepare reports for external parties, for example, parents, employers, training agencies.
Contribute to and attend meetings, events and working parties as requested.
Ensure statistics for learner attendance and achievement are monitored and acted upon when necessary.
Complete learner registers accurately and on time.
Be aware of and follow College policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety, safeguarding, risk management, equality and diversity, quality and our values and behaviours. You will be required to attend training as necessary and update own CPD record.

Essential Criteria:
Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Biology.
English & Maths at Level 2 or above.
Experience
Experience in teaching Biology modules for post 16.
Previous experience in teaching assessing the Access qualification (Medical science)- Gateway.
Skills & Abilities

Competent in tracking learner progress and setting targets.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable Criteria:
Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (or willingness to work towards).
