Oaklands College is looking for an ambitious and inspirational Curriculum Team Leader to support the delivery, quality and performance of designated curriculum areas. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to take the next step in their leadership journey, helping to drive excellence in teaching, learning and assessment while ensuring students achieve exceptional outcomes.

Working closely with the Head of Curriculum, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of curriculum provision, supporting staff development, curriculum innovation, quality improvement and student success. You will contribute to the College's ambition to be recognised as a high-performing provider, delivering outstanding experiences and outcomes for learners across a range of programmes and levels.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning, Delivery & Development

• Support curriculum and business planning activities across designated curriculum areas.

• Contribute to curriculum growth, recruitment and retention strategies.

• Support curriculum review, programme development and innovation.

• Ensure provision remains current, inclusive and aligned to industry standards and skills priorities.

• Develop progression opportunities that support learner success and progression.

Teaching, Learning & Quality

• Undertake a teaching commitment of up to 18 hours per week.

• Model outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices.

• Support quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with curriculum and quality teams to improve student outcomes.

• Coach, mentor and support colleagues to achieve high standards of practice.

Student Experience & Inclusion

• Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

• Support strategies that improve attendance, behaviour, engagement and achievement.

• Champion equality, diversity and inclusion across the curriculum area.

• Help remove barriers to learning and support student success for all learners.

Industry Engagement & Partnerships

• Develop and strengthen employer partnerships.

• Support work experience, industry placements and employer-led activities.

• Ensure curriculum delivery reflects current industry practice.

• Help create progression routes into employment, apprenticeships and further study.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Support monitoring of attendance, retention, achievement and progression.

• Contribute to self-assessment, quality improvement planning and inspection readiness.

• Support staff development, wellbeing and performance improvement.

• Deputise for the Head of Curriculum as required.

Digital Innovation & AI

• Champion effective use of digital technologies, data and AI-enabled practices.

• Promote innovative approaches that enhance teaching, learning and student outcomes.

• Model responsible and effective use of AI within educational environments.

Is This You?

Essential Criteria

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional qualification.

• Teaching qualification or recognised professional teaching status.

• Experience teaching within Further Education, Sixth Form or a related educational environment.

• Experience supporting curriculum delivery and improving student outcomes.

• Strong understanding of quality assurance processes, Ofsted EIF and inspection requirements.

• Ability to motivate, support and develop teaching staff.

• Experience working collaboratively within a leadership or curriculum team.

• Experience within one or more sectors relevant to the curriculum area.

• Experience developing employer partnerships and external relationships.

• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

• Demonstrable understanding of the effective and responsible use of AI within education.

Desirable

• Experience across multiple provision types, including 16–19, adult learning, higher education or apprenticeships.

• Course leadership, programme coordination or line management experience.

• Experience working within a multi-campus organisation.

• Experience contributing to Outstanding or Exceptional inspection outcomes.

• Experience of digital transformation or AI-enabled improvement initiatives.
