An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Netball Coach to support the delivery of our successful Netball Academy programme. Working alongside the Lead Netball Coach, you will help create a positive, challenging, and supportive environment where student athletes can develop their skills, confidence, and performance both on and off the court.
This bank coaching role is ideal for a developing coach looking to gain valuable experience within a structured academy environment while benefiting from opportunities to progress through the Oaklands coaching pathway and further England Netball qualifications.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
As an Assistant Netball Coach, you will play an important role in supporting training sessions, individual player development, matchday operations, and athlete welfare across the academy programme.
You will:
Support the planning and delivery of high-quality netball coaching sessions under the direction of the Lead Netball Coach.
Assist with individual athlete development, including skills coaching, performance feedback, and video analysis.
Support matchday activities, including warm-ups, equipment management, bench duties, athlete supervision, and post-match reviews.
Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive training environment for all participants.
Monitor athlete welfare and behaviour, ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are upheld at all times.
Provide timely feedback on athlete progress and raise any concerns with the Lead Netball Coach.
Support talent identification activities, recruitment events, camps, academy trials, and community engagement initiatives.
Prepare, maintain, and safely store coaching equipment and resources.
Complete registers, equipment checks, and other session administration accurately and on time.
Maintain professional standards and comply with all College policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing, and data security.
Engage in ongoing professional development and mandatory training requirements.
Is This You?
Essential
England Netball Level 1 Coaching Qualification or above (Level 2 or working towards Level 2 preferred).
Experience coaching or playing netball at club level or above.
Positive, enthusiastic, and learner-focused approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Reliable, punctual, and professional in all aspects of work.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, matchdays, and occasional short-notice sessions.
Desirable
England Netball Level 2 Coaching Qualification.
First Aid qualification.
Umpiring qualification or award.
Experience working with young people within a sporting or educational environment.
Experience supporting athlete development programmes or academy environments.
Knowledge of performance pathways and student-athlete development.
Th salary for the role will pro rota for 18 hours.
