An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across our Engineering programmes from Level 2 to Level 5. Your Day to Day Impact
As a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, you will inspire and support learners across a range of Engineering programmes, helping them develop both the theoretical understanding and practical skills required for successful careers in industry. Through engaging and inclusive teaching, you will create a positive learning environment where learners are encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will deliver and assess specialist units covering Electrical and Electronic Principles, PLCs, Microcontrollers, Process Control, Electronic Measurement and Testing, and Industrial Electrical Systems. Drawing on your technical expertise, you will bring engineering concepts to life through innovative teaching approaches, practical demonstrations, and industry-relevant examples that prepare learners for employment and further study. A key aspect of your role will be planning and developing high-quality schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources that support excellent learner outcomes. You will monitor learner progress closely, provide meaningful feedback, set challenging but achievable targets, and offer effective personal tutoring support that enables students to overcome barriers and succeed. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Engineering department, you will contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing enhancement of the learner experience. Your knowledge and insights will help ensure our programmes remain relevant, responsive, and aligned to industry needs. You will also play an important role in maintaining high standards across teaching, learning, and assessment. Ensuring compliance with college policies, safeguarding requirements, health and safety regulations, and quality standards will be central to your responsibilities.
Through ongoing professional development and continuous improvement, you will remain at the forefront of engineering education and contribute positively to the wider college community. Most importantly, you will inspire learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them build confidence, develop valuable technical skills, and achieve their ambitions. Is This You?
Qualifications & Experience: A degree, apprenticeship, or substantial industrial experience in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Electrical and Electronic Principles, PLCs, Microcontrollers, Electronic Measurement and Testing, and Industrial Control Systems.
Teaching & Assessment: Experience of teaching or assessing within Further or Higher Education, or a willingness to train and develop in this area.
Professional Development: A recognised teaching qualification, or a commitment to achieving one.
Communication Skills: Excellent ability to engage, motivate, and inspire learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
Learner Focus: Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every learner achieve their potential.
