An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for two enthusiastic and ambitious Rugby Coaches to join our revitalised Rugby Academy Programme, delivered in partnership with Saracens Rugby Club. As a Development Squad Coach, you will play a key role in shaping the future of aspiring rugby players, supporting their athletic, personal, and educational development within an ambitious performance environment.
Working closely with the Head of Rugby and the newly formed Saracens ACE Academy coaching team, you will help deliver a high-quality programme that creates clear progression pathways for talented young athletes, ensuring consistency across all aspects of player development.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
As a Rugby Coach, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of all on-field coaching activities for the Development Squad, creating an engaging and supportive environment where players can thrive.
You will:
Deliver high-quality coaching sessions that support both team and individual player development.
Prepare and coach Development XV teams for training sessions and competitive fixtures.
Support players' personal development and rugby education, helping them achieve their full potential both on and off the field.
Work collaboratively with the Head of Rugby to implement academy objectives and performance standards.
Build strong relationships with players, staff, parents, and key stakeholders to foster a positive academy culture.
Collaborate with Saracens ACE Academy coaches to ensure consistency in coaching delivery and player progression.
Promote player welfare, safeguarding, and wellbeing in line with college and governing body requirements.
Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Rugby Academy Programme.
Is This You?
Essential:
Level 2 RFU Coaching Award, or willingness and ability to achieve the qualification within one calendar year.
Minimum of two years' experience in coaching or teaching, ideally within junior or youth age groups.
Confident and adaptable coaching style with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop young rugby players.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for player development and creating positive learning experiences.
Desirable:
Sport-related degree, teaching qualification, or higher-level qualification such as a PGCE.
Experience coaching within performance pathway programmes, including DPP, PDG, or similar environments.
Understanding of athlete development pathways and performance rugby structures.
