An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and highly skilled Functional Skills Maths Lecturer to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their goals and aspirations through Functional Skills Maths qualifications. In this role, you will encourage students to become independent, resilient, and confident individuals while helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for future success.

Your Day to Day Impact
As a Functional Skills Maths Lecturer, you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve success in their maths qualifications and progress confidently towards their future aspirations.
You will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire learners and support them in developing their mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Using effective teaching strategies, you will adapt your delivery to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
A key aspect of your role will be creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated. You will encourage independence, resilience, and confidence while fostering a culture of achievement and continuous improvement.
You will monitor learner progress closely, providing constructive and timely feedback to help students understand their strengths and areas for development. Through effective assessment and coaching, you will empower learners to achieve their qualification goals.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the curriculum, you will contribute to enhancing the student experience and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning throughout the college. You will also keep up to date with developments in Functional Skills Maths education to ensure your teaching remains current and effective.

Experience & Knowledge
Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths within a classroom environment.
Detailed knowledge of the Functional Skills Maths curriculum and effective methods of delivery.
A passion for education and commitment to helping learners achieve their full potential.
Communication
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire learners from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
Capable of providing constructive feedback that supports learner development and achievement.
Collaboration
A positive team player with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and wider college teams.
Committed to enhancing the overall student experience through collaboration and shared best practice.
Organisation & Digital Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Able to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining high standards of delivery and learner support.
Qualifications
A recognised teaching qualification, preferably Level 5 or working towards one.
GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
Safeguarding & Inclusion
