An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for an experienced BANK ACL Lecturer.
The ACL Lecturer in Art will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that support adult learners in developing artistic skills, creativity and confidence within an inclusive learning environment. As this is a non-accredited leisure course, the focus is on personal development, practical skill-building, learner enjoyment and the achievement of individual goals. The post holder will also be responsible for course planning, learner progress monitoring, accurate record-keeping and compliance with college policies and quality standards.
Your Day to Day Impact
Plan and deliver well-planned, engaging lessons for adult learners in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Teach a range of drawing and painting techniques, processes, materials and methods appropriate to the course level.
Differentiate learning activities to meet the needs and abilities of learners with varying levels of experience.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes participation, confidence, and achievement.
Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
Ensure learners work safely and follow health and safety requirements within the classroom.
Prepare teaching resources and lesson materials as required.
Attend department meetings, maximum of two within an academic year.
Complete and submit all required course documentation in the specific timeframe including schemes of learning and group profiles.
Comply with all college requirements including the completion of registers within stated guidelines and timescales.
Participate in course reviews, observations, quality assurance activities and standardisation processes.
Be aware of and follow College policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety, safeguarding, equality and diversity, quality and our values and behaviours.
Complete all mandatory training and comply with internal quality processes.
Is This You?
Essential Criteria:
Minimum of Level 3 qualification or equivalent professional experience in art or a related subject.
Experience of using a range of traditional and contemporary art techniques and media.
Experience of teaching or leading workshops for adults.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding the health and safety requirements within a practical workshop environment.
Desirable Criteria:
Teaching qualifications such as the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or willingness to work towards it).
Recent experience teaching non-accredited leisure learning courses.
