An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and proactive Apprenticeship Trainer & Skills Coach to support apprentices throughout their learning journey. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality training, coaching, assessment, and employer engagement activities that help apprentices develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to succeed in their chosen careers.

Working within our Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning team, you will have a meaningful impact on learner achievement, employer satisfaction, and the overall success of our apprenticeship provision.

Your Day-to-Day Impact

As an Apprenticeship Trainer & Skills Coach, you will take ownership of the apprenticeship journey, guiding learners from enrolment through to successful completion. Through a blend of workplace visits, online delivery, and face-to-face learning, you will deliver engaging and industry-focused training that supports apprentices to achieve their full potential.

You will create high-quality learning experiences, tailoring support to individual starting points and learning needs. By conducting regular reviews and progress meetings with apprentices and employers, you will ensure learners remain on track, setting clear targets and action plans that drive successful outcomes.

Assessment will be a key part of your role. You will assess learner work against apprenticeship standards, provide constructive developmental feedback, maintain accurate records within the college's e-portfolio systems, and prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA). Your commitment to quality will ensure learners receive the support they need to succeed.

Strong employer engagement is central to this position. You will work closely with employers to develop compliant training plans, monitor workplace development, and ensure businesses fully understand their role in supporting apprenticeship programmes. Building positive and productive employer relationships will help maximise learner progress and achievement.

You will also provide pastoral and academic support, helping learners overcome barriers to learning and progression. Through effective information, advice, and guidance, you will support apprentices in achieving both their qualification and longer-term career aspirations.

Maintaining high standards of quality and compliance will be an essential responsibility. You will ensure all delivery, assessment, and documentation meet the requirements of awarding organisations, ESFA funding regulations, Ofsted expectations, and Oaklands College quality standards.

For senior-level responsibilities, you may also support Internal Quality Assurance activities, liaise with external verifiers, contribute to audit readiness, and provide guidance and mentoring to colleagues to promote excellence across the apprenticeship provision.

Is This You?

Experience

Proven experience delivering training, coaching, or assessment within an apprenticeship, further education, or workplace learning environment.
Experience supporting learners towards successful achievement of qualifications and professional standards.
Experience working collaboratively with employers to support learning and development initiatives.

Communication

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with learners, employers, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Confident in delivering engaging learning sessions and providing constructive feedback.

Organisation

Excellent planning and time management skills.
Ability to manage a caseload of learners while maintaining accurate documentation and records.

Knowledge & Qualifications

Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, funding requirements, assessment processes, and End Point Assessment.
Relevant teaching and/or assessor qualifications such as PTLLS, A1 Assessor Award, or TAQA are desirable.
IQA qualifications, or willingness to work towards them, are advantageous.
Relevant vocational qualifications or industry experience within the subject area being delivered.

Digital Skills

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and e-portfolio systems used to monitor learner progress and achievement.
